The “SECRET” Big League Approach

There is a secret that Big League baseball players know about when it comes to being successful in this sport. It’s so effective and yet even the youngest most inexperienced player can use it to become a better baseball player. In fact young kids were probably the first to use this incredible baseball technique, and for whatever reason, circumstances have forced some baseball players to move away from this secret baseball approach.

Now let me present to you this secret approach……drum roll………

It’s very simple. After all the hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and labor, if you’re not having fun, it will not be worth it.

As a baseball player, how long do you think you will last in this game if you’re not enjoying the experience of strapping on a pair of cleats, and swinging a bat??!

Even for you baseball parent’s. Have you taken the time to remind you kids how important it is to simply have fun and enjoy themselves? It can be very easy to get caught up in results, winning, and losing. Have we forgotten about the process?

It’s about the journey. Not the destination.

Playing baseball is truly a privilege, and we would be doing a dishonor by not doing everything we can to show our gratitude.

The great thing about having fun is that joy gives you positive energy. Positive energy gives you confidence and confidence is everything! Do me a favor. If ever you find yourself struggling, or you are the parent of a player struggling, ask yourself this.

Are you forgetting to have fun?

Play baseball not in the past or future. Play it in this moment for it’s this moment that holds the potential for success. This moment is a gift, and that is why we call it the present.

Play Better Baseball in 5 Seconds

You’re probably wondering what could possibly allow a baseball player to play better baseball in the next 5 seconds right?

Maybe your saying, “it’s not true”!!!! Getting better takes hard work! It takes blood, sweat, and tears!

Though this may be true, sometime the best results come from the simplest things. Playing better baseball isn’t necessarily about developing quicker bat speed or developing arm strength and increasing velocity. It’s about knowing what steps to take now, in the present moment, that will allow you to hit, field, and throw the ball more consistently.

Playing better baseball in 5 seconds is about taking immediate action.

This is how you play better baseball in 5 seconds.

Breathing can transform your life.

If you are worried about your slump, breathe. It will bring you back to the present. The present is the only place where you can make an adjustment. Not yesterday’s game and not tomorrow’s.

If you are feeling stressed about an injury you just had, breathe! Breathing promotes blood circulation, and blood circulation promotes healing!

If you feel discouraged about not getting enough playing time or worried that your’e not good enough, breathe. It will remind you of how fortunate you are to simply have the ability to pick up a baseball and throw it. To run across the grass and dirt freely. Breathing will change your perspective, and show you how lucky you are. Feeling gratitude will give you confidence. With confidence, you can accomplish almost anything in baseball.

If you desire to play better baseball, remind yourself to breath. Enjoy each moment as a baseball player. For most of us, there are to few to waste.

Where does baseball talent come from?

Ask not what your talent can do for you but what you can do for your talent. When I think about talent and how important it is to have, I remember something that an old coach of mine once said about skills. ” Take a look at a kid’s talent and then go over to a tree. Shake it and out will fall a dozen just like him”. The reason why I love this game is because though it may bless those with talent, to be a truly gifted player, you need something that is beyond talent. If I had to give it a word to describe it I would use the word, DESIRE. Talent will only take you so far. The question will always be how far will you take your talent?

Desire is more powerful than any list of baseball tips or hitting drills.
