Many people thought A-Rod would come back only as a shell of his former self. No longer on any PED’s, his performance would suffer. Now he’s not the MVP he once once but A-ROD has shown that experience and an understanding of playing the game the right way will support you at an elite level of baseball.

Alex Rodriguez isn’t my favorite player but he is mechanically sound. Everything he does at the plate is effective and dictates his approach from at-bat to at-bat.

Hitters need to understand where his success comes from in order to model what he does that can support you in your progress at the plate.

      Mn,
Are you aware that the shoulders are not rotational during the approach to contact? they execute an up and down tilt on a lateral axis all on a vertical plane.
The best thing for the hips is to first understand that the upper body/torso and the hips are like two hinges that can work separately when hooked up, the batters approach to contact, like the pitchers body movement to stride foot touch, plant down is a side ways closed body movement then at stride foot touch plant down hip to shoulder separation is executed by rotating the hips only from negative to positive / rear to forward position while the shoulders momentarily remain closed for a split second then the shoulders execute their up and down tilt on their lateral axis all on their vertical plane initiated by the positive inward turn/drive of the rear knee.

        Hi Don,

Thanks for you input. I prefer to keep the mechanics simple as possible. If I can’t explain it in onc sentence I think it’s subject to being more complicated than need be.

However, I don’t think I mentioned that the shoulders rotate. Whether they do or do not is inconsequential. To me that’s like saying ” the back foot should come off the ground”. They either do or they don’t.
